Elephant-damaged Baobab tree

Elephant-damaged Baobab tree

Elephants shear off bark from trees such as this Baobab. In the Ngorongoro Crater (where this tree is), the bark is high in calcium and phosphorus, helping delay the onset of osteoporosis (and tooth loss), which is the most common cause of elephant death in Tanzania.
